Effective May 15th, 2012, new artist applicants will be juried into membership levels outlined below:

MEMBER LEVELS

Art Professionals of Texas provides three levels of artist membership: Associate Artist Member, Sustaining Artist Member and Signature Artist Member. Current members in good standing may move or may be asked to move among three levels as necessary throughout their membership tenure.

The Associate Artist Member exhibits good design and evident potential in their principal medium through their submitted work.

The Sustaining Artist Member exhibits strong elements of design and technique in their principal medium through their submitted work.

The Signature Artist Member exhibits masterful design, technique and creativity in their work. These qualities must be consistent in all submitted work.

APPLICATION PROCESS

Artist membership is limited only by the quality of the artist’s work. A person may apply for membership following the guidelines on the application. APT enlists a jury of professionals in the fine art community to review all candidates’ submissions. The jury reviews each candidate’s work against artistic guidelines as outlined below to determine membership qualification. The APT membership committee review’s each candidates’ background and makes a final determination based on both the jury’s review and the artists’ professional history to determine membership level placement.

Each applicant’s work is evaluated using the following guidelines:

  • Design
  • Mastery of medium
  • Conceptual originality
  • Evidence of professional practice (i.e., production, exhibitions and thematic depth).

*Art Professionals of Texas prohibits discrimination on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, disability, age, religion or creed with respect to all of its operations.
