Opening Reception Saturday September 8, 2012 7pm
LuminArte Gallery features works of outstanding Texas artists including APT member Kay Dalton and international award winning artist Leanne Venier, as well as others whose abstract works clearly meet the emotional test of a painting as defined decades earlier by Franz Kline...
"The final test of a painting, theirs, mine, any other, is do the painter's emotions come across?"
~ Franz Kline
Abstract art is a departure from reality in depiction of imagery in art. Instead of precise imagery, abstract art uses a visual language of form, color, line and texture to create a composition which may exist with a degree of independence from visual references in the world. | Thanks to those who came and shared at our Artist Roundtable! It was great to see what some of you are up to and get feedback on what you want as far as exhibitions go.
We welcome our new Events Committee Chair, Sharon Shero! We have been confirming details for our exhibitions. Because APT has such a wide variety of artists and media, most of our shows will have a general theme of some kind, in order to have cohesive group exhibitions. Your feedback on themes will help us plan for the kind of shows that interest you.
Please click on all underlined links for more information.
We now have an APT video commercial that will be up on our website any day now. We hope this will bring more attention to our artists! (If your work is not in there, no worries, we have other videos in the works.)
Sincerely,
Cassandra Fink, President

"Microcosm"
\MY-kruh-koz-uhm\ From Greek mikros kosmos, "small world."
noun: 1. A little world. Hence, man or human nature as a
supposed epitome of the world or universe.
2. A smaller, representative system having
analogies to a larger system.
The 2012 Microcosm exhibition will be held at Gallery @ 1300 on Dragon Street in Dallas, Texas. This six week exhibition, scheduled for November and December is for APT members who choose to apply, and will consist mostly of two-dimensional, small fine and contemporary art works, and sculpture. Works should be either minimalist in nature, diminutive in size, or play on the theme of microcosm: extremes or contrast in size. This exhibit will be curated to the specific needs of the gallery space by gallery, curator and a guest juror. Both finished works and the creation of new works on this theme is encouraged. See Prospectus, and for more information see our Exhibitions Page. $15 to enter one piece, $35 to enter 3 works of art.
